Information on Stones

Amethyst- Violet varity of Quartz. The name comes from the Ancient Greek.

The Myth: Belief that the stone protects the owner from drunkenness; the Romans and the Greeks wore Amethyst and made drinking vessels so it would prevent intoxication.

Aventurine- Is a form of Quartz, characterised by its translucency and the presence of platy mineral indivisions that gives a shimmering or glistening effect.

Citrine-The yellow and orange varity of quartz. Traditional birthstone for the month of November.

Hematite- Popular in Erupe during the Victorian era. Is the mineral form of iron oxide. Mystic power: To be a good healing and grounding stone, it strenthens the body and improve resistantance to life's stresses. Hematite inspires inner life and helps to keep inward peace.

Pearl- Hard object produced within a soft tissue of a living shelled mollusk. Two type of pearls-cultural and imitation.

Quartz- The second most abundant mineral in the Earth's continental crust. The word "Quartz" is derived from the German word "quarz".

Rose Quartz-Color is due to trace amount of titanium, iron or manganese.

Smoky Quartz-Color is gray translucent version of Quartz.

Sandstone-Is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand size minerals or rock grains. Most is composed of quartz and/or feldspar.

Turquoise- Is a opaque blue-to-green mineral. It was first brought to Europe from Turkey from the mines in historical Khorasan Provinice of Persia. Some may have spiderweb with either brown or black webbing. The webbing contains iron.
